ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: APRIL 19, 2004 Last month we discussed Fast Navigation, Target Audience, and Optimized Images – all features of a professional website. This month we will look at the tenth feature: A Goal.
10. A Goal
There needs to be a pivotal reason to warrant the cost of a website. Are youinforming your customers so that they can make better purchases? Is there a way to spend less time on the phone for either you or your staff? Can your products and services be sold twenty four hours a day? These questions help to illustrate potential website goals. Without a deliberate purpose and focus, the true value of providing information or performing sales on-line can be lessened by superfluous links and distractions.
A professional web site should be continuously and not always overtly funneling visitors toward the goal of the website. With a specific goal in mind, the value of the site can be measured against the results, and adjustments can be made in a timely manner. This installment concludes our five part saga.
